WAMS clinic services are strictly confidential.


1. Our Focus

The Walgett Aboriginal Medical Service or WAMS takes a Holistic or Whole of Life approach to healthy families & individuals. Our focus is the Mental, Social, Emotional & Physical well being of individuals and families of Walgett and remote communities, knowing that healthy individuals & Families bring about healthy communities.


2. The WAMS Clinic & General Practice

WAMS have a range of services available to the public, with a focus on both physical and mental health, general health checkups are available through the clinic, Monday to Friday.

Specialised services include: Counselling Services (Mental Health), Podiatry (Feet), Cardiology (Heart), Sleep Apnoea, Diabetic Education, Gynaecologist/Obstetrician, Midwifery, Dental Services, Ears, Eyes, Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation. The service also runs a number of preventative health programs including early detection of cancer and diabetes.

If you need to see Doctor immediately during non-clinic hours, please contact Walgett Hospital or Walgett Doctors Surgery, or in case of an emergency dial 000. WALGETT DOCTORS SURGERY is open Saturday mornings 9am – 12pm midday.

3. General Health Checkups (Don't let a small problem turn into a big one!)
When was the last time you had a checkup?, is your physical or mental health not 100%, come in for a checkup and ensure you or your families wellbeing, our medical and health professionals can treat your symptoms or point you in the right direction.


4. Clinic Times & Making An Appointment

Appointment made by phone (Contact Us) or in person.
The hours of service are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.  (WAMS closes @ 1pm on Friday afternoons)

Days where an appointment is needed:
Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Walk in days (meaning that patients do not require an appointment.):
Monday, Wednesdays & Fridays


5. Are Clinic Services Only Available To Aboriginals?

Although our clinic services are focused around aboriginal health, these services are available to all members of the public.


6. Flu Shots & Vaccinations

Immunisation programs operate for children and adults. Flu shots are also available.
