2 POSITIONS VACANT – GENERAL PRACTITIONERS

The Walgett Aboriginal Medical Service (WAMS) is a federal and state funded organisation under the control of an Aboriginal Board of Directors.

Our Aboriginal health care initiatives are recognised as being at the leading edge of service delivery.

WAMS wishes to appoint sensitive and experienced general practitioners to deliver primary health care services of excellent standard within the framework of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team.

WAMS is accredited with the Quality Improvements Council (QIC)

and also accredited with GPA accreditation plus.

The Essential requirements are:

*            Current NSW registration

*           At least five years experience in general practice

*           A commitment to the principles of the Aboriginal community in

            Aboriginal health

It is Desirable that applicants have an interest in :

*            women's health issues

*           post-graduate qualifications such as FRACGP,MPH or equivalent

*            vocational registration

*           an understanding of the National Aboriginal Health Strategy

*           a strong commitment to on-going medical education

*           a willingness to participate in the training of Aboriginal Health Workers.

Conditions of service incorporate a package including:

*           Salary depending on experience and qualifications

*           four weeks annual leave

*           two weeks sick leave

*            contributory superannuation

*           rental subsidy

*           a portion of other income generated by the GP.
